Cape Cod
CAPE COD The sound of morning droplets heard,
Tapping gently on the roofs tin shingles. The fresh rain cleaned the morning air,
Leaves hang heavy on weighted branches. The Cape seems to be forever endless,
Wardrobes are of colors, hues and styles. For each new path holds out a mystery,
I have yet to find a straight path to follow. The land seems to have forged its own mind,
As it has then carved itself in all directions. The sea has invaded wherever it chooses,
And soon ends itself in green silent marshes. I watch the birds, who defy my descriptions,
They appear from nowhere to exist only here. The squirrels chase amongst the branches,
And hopping rabbits dot the landscape. The old and the new have blended as one,
The past appears to now meet the present. So I rest and enjoy the endless quiet,
Another Cape visit ends with silent smiles. T. Michael Daly
